I am very satisfied with this product.
The arbor and swing arrived in one box that was easily maneuvered to the backyard, where it was opened and the pieces examined. Nothing was missing, though the cedar pieces showed two small splits, each about two inches long--nothing that would affect structural rigidity and could easily be repaired with basic filler. The arbor would certainly have been easier to assemble with a helper, but this 5'7", 68-year-old gent managed it without too much difficulty. A couple of notes: It's always nice when a bit is included with the hardware, but in this case the supplied bit was too short, as the pre-drilled, countersunk holes for the upper braces are quite deep. My guess is a lot of DIYers might have the needed star bit, but many won't have a long one. If the company is going to supply a bit, it needs to be longer. I might also have appreciated a slightly larger-gauge fastener for the upper braces--the included screws are #8s--but they are doing the job. Most important: While the structure is balanced and fairly heavy, it absolutely must be anchored. If it is freestanding, it flexes quite a bit which will eventually affect its integrity. The supplied hurricane spikes look like they'll work on a lawn or dirt. As it happens, we put our unit on a travertine patio. I used angle brackets at all four corners, fastened to the wood posts with long Simpson Strong-tie fasteners and their 1-inch nuts, and I fastened to the travertine with 5/16" x 1 1/2" Redhead concrete sleeves. It greatly reduces the sway and flexing, and there is zero chance of its shifting or falling over. We're enjoying it!
